Ang Biblia (Tagalog Bible) 1.7

The Tagalog Bible, also known as the Holy Bible in Filipino, offers a comprehensive collection of both the Old Testament and the New Testament scriptures.

Filipino, which is based on the Tagalog language, serves as the national language of the Philippines. As a result, the Christian Bible has been translated into numerous Philippine languages.

Early translations of portions of the Sacred Scriptures can be traced back to the efforts of Spanish friars who published catechisms and prayer materials in the local languages. An excellent example is the inclusion of the "Pater Noster" in Tagalog Baybayin Script in the first book ever published in the Philippines called the Doctrina Cristiana (1593), which was printed using xylography.

Protestants published 'Ang Biblia' in 1905, specifically in Tagalog and based on the Protestant canon. The translators worked from a Spanish version.

Msgr. Jose C. Abriol, a Filipino Catholic priest, undertook the translation from Hebrew and Greek into Tagalog.

Most Protestant denominations prefer to use the New International Version of the Bible, which is also available in Filipino. This is due to English being an official language of the Philippines. However, many Mainline Protestant denominations in the country lean towards using the Magandang Balita Biblia (Good News Bible). The Iglesia ni Cristo also employs this translation.

Jehovah's Witnesses or Mga Saksi ni Jehova have their own version of the Bible called the New World Translation, published in various Filipino languages such as Tagalog, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, and more than 100 other languages since the 1980s.
